Terms of use
Last updated: 2026-10-27
These terms apply to everyone who uses Betna Market. By creating an account you agree to them.
What Betna Market is — and is not
Betna Market is a marketplace. We connect buyers and sellers. We do not own the goods, produce them or sell them.
This means the purchase agreement is between you and the other user, not between you and Betna Market. We can help in a dispute, but we are not a party to the trade.
Payment
Payment happens in the app, through Stripe. The checkout is drawn here on our own page, and you do not leave Betna Market — but the card fields are Stripe's own. Your card number goes straight to Stripe, not to us, and Betna Market never sees it.
The amount is split automatically when released: the seller receives the item price and any shipping, we receive the platform fee, and tax goes on to the state. Nobody calculates this by hand, and the money never passes through anyone's private account.
One exception: if the seller lives in a country Stripe does not pay out to, nothing is split automatically. Betna Market then settles with them by hand, outside the app. See «If Stripe does not pay out to your country» below.
BUYER PROTECTION: the money stays with Betna Market until YOU confirm the item has arrived. Only then does the seller's share move on. If the item never arrives, or is not as described, you report it — and the money is still with us.
TO YOU AS A SELLER: this means you are paid when the buyer confirms receipt, not when she pays. If she never confirms, the money is released anyway: 21 days after you shipped the item, or 3 days after the carrier reports it delivered, if you entered a tracking number. You do not have to ask for it.
Your account
- You must provide your correct name and an email address you actually use.
- One account per person. Do not create multiple accounts to get around a suspension or to review yourself.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account.
- You must be at least 15 years old.
What you may sell
Betna Market is an open market: anyone with an account can list something for sale immediately, and the listing goes live without prior approval from us. We do review who sells here, and we can remove listings and suspend accounts that break the rules. These things may not be sold:
- Weapons, ammunition and explosives.
- Drugs, prescription medicines and supplements with undocumented health claims.
- Alcohol and tobacco. Selling these requires a licence in Norway.
- Counterfeit and pirated goods.
- Stolen goods.
- Live animals.
- Personal data about others, and images of other people without their consent.
- Content that is racist, threatening or sexualised.
If you sell
- Describe the item honestly. Images must show the actual item, not a nicer version taken from somewhere else.
- State the price including taxes. If an item is discounted, the reference price must be the lowest price the item has actually had in the last 30 days. This follows from Norwegian price marking regulations, and the app enforces it.
- Ship the item within reasonable time after the order is confirmed.
- If you sell regularly and for profit, you count as a business. You then have more obligations than a private individual — among them, you must give the buyer a right of withdrawal. See the separate document on the right of withdrawal.
- You are responsible for paying tax on what you earn.
If Stripe does not pay out to your country
Stripe does not pay out to every country. If you live somewhere Stripe does not cover, you can still have a shop on Betna Market. We then settle with you by hand.
- You set your own price, exactly like every other seller.
- When a customer buys, the money is held by Betna Market until the customer confirms the item has arrived — exactly as for any other seller.
- Once confirmed, the amount is yours. You see it under «My payouts»: the sale price minus the fee and any tax.
- Betna Market sends the money to you outside the app, using a money transfer service. You receive the reference from the transfer.
- The fee is the same as for every other seller.
Fees
Betna Market takes 6 % of the sale price when an item is sold. The fee is shown in the order before you confirm, so you know what you are left with. Creating an account and posting listings is free.
VAT and other public taxes are not part of the fee. That is money going to the state, not to us, and it is kept separate in the accounts.
Reviews
- You can only review a seller you have actually bought from. The app verifies this.
- Write about the transaction, not about the person.
- Reviews cannot be bought, traded or deleted for being negative.
When we intervene
We may hide a listing or temporarily suspend an account if something breaches these terms or the law. You will be told why, and you may respond.
If an account is suspended you can still browse the app, but not list, buy or sell until the case has been reviewed.
Our responsibility
We do our best to keep the service working, but we cannot guarantee it is always available or free of errors. We are not responsible for what other users do, for the condition of goods, or for a trade going as agreed.
This does not limit the rights you have under mandatory Norwegian law.
Governing law
Norwegian law applies. If a dispute arises that we cannot resolve, it may be brought before the Norwegian courts. If you are a consumer, you may also contact the Norwegian Consumer Authority.
